The Firm · Serving Clients Since 1999

More than twenty-five years of being the firm our clients call

Fred Daus began serving clients independently in 1999 and established Fredrick James in 2004, on a simple conviction: established businesses and private clients deserve one firm that coordinates the whole picture.

Fred J. Daus, EA, MBA, an NTPI Fellow and Certified Tax Planner, has more than 26 years of experience in taxation, accounting, business management and advisory services. He began serving clients independently in 1999 and established Fredrick James in its current form in 2004. The founding idea has not changed since: most firms hand clients a service, and clients actually need a department. Accounting, payroll, taxes, entities and senior counsel, coordinated inside one firm, accountable to one relationship.

The firm is headquartered in Clearwater and serves clients throughout Tampa Bay, across the United States and internationally. The client list runs from established privately held companies to medical, dental and legal practices, entertainers and creators whose income crosses many state lines, and private clients with entities, trusts and reporting obligations in more than one country.

We are deliberately not the biggest firm in Tampa Bay. We are built to be the one whose clients never wonder who to call.

What we believe

i.
One firm should own the outcomeWhen accounting, payroll and taxes live together, far less falls between providers, and someone is accountable for the whole.
ii.
Planning beats reportingTaxes are decided by choices made all year. For clients engaged in planning, the work starts long before the return.
iii.
Fit matters more than volumeWe do our best work for established operations, and we would rather be essential to a few hundred clients than adequate for thousands.
iv.
Access to experienced peopleComplex questions reach professionals who know the whole relationship rather than a rotating queue.
The Value of One Firm

The measure we hold ourselves to is simple: between the planning, the coordination and the surprises that do not happen, the relationship should be worth more than it costs.
