Business Tax Planning

Plan in January. Smile in April.

Quarterly projections, entity and compensation strategy, and purchases timed for advantage. This is the service that usually pays for the whole relationship.

Business tax planning is a calendar, not an event. By the time a return is being prepared, almost every meaningful decision has already been made: how you paid yourself, when you bought equipment, how the entity was structured. Planning means making those decisions with the tax outcome in view, while they can still be changed.

Our business clients get quarterly projection meetings, an annual entity and compensation review, and modeling for any major move: a big purchase, a new location, a key hire, a change in ownership. The result is a known number every quarter and a materially smaller one most years.

Questions

Asked and answered

When should planning start?
January, or today, whichever comes first. The earlier in the year the plan starts, the more levers are still available. Fourth-quarter rescues help, but full-year plans win.
We had a great year. Is it too late to do anything?
Usually not. Retirement contributions, purchase timing, and compensation adjustments can still move the number late in the year. The key is calling before December 31, not after.
